We relocated to Onekaka in 2011, initially living in a converted Fire Engine Housetruck while we built our home. When an adjacent overgrown section became available, we bought it with plans for holiday accommodation, which eventually turned into the cattery you see today.

I used to work remotely for an insurance company doing data entry, but I wanted more meaningful human — and animal — interaction. My love of animals and land development, combined with recognising a local need for cat boarding, led me to start Punga Grove Cattery.

The business has some family history behind it too: my Aunty and Uncle had a Cattery in Rangiora, and another Aunty and Uncle had Boarding Kennels also in Rangiora. My partner's daughter runs Padz and Paws in Koromiko, and there are historical ties to kennels previously run in the same area.
